Sugar and Spice and...
Valentine’s Day. A day of love in all aspects—romantic, platonic, and personal. It’s a time when couples put aside time to express affection and love through exchanging tender words and sweet gifts. It’s fitting that the planets of connection and energy are in relationship through this holiday. The lover (Venus) and the warrior (Mars) have been fused (conjunct) for a week now right in the middle of the sign of Capricorn, and will continue to be tightly connected for another month.
This configuration of Mars-Venus is special and unique to this year at this time. There are lots of different themes interweaving in the background now. Collectively, we are being pushed to acknowledge harsh truths about authority figures and transform ourselves through facing our karma (Pluto in Capricorn), shakeup the familiar routines and status quo we are used to in our cultures (Uranus in Taurus), and allow sensitivity and compassion to bring us together (Neptune in Pisces). Overall, we’ve been going through a lot as a society for a while now—though that’s definitely not news to anyone!
For this span of a little under a month and a half of time, the Mars-Venus conjunction is a continuation and ramping up of these long-term themes—but throughout and at the end, we will hopefully get to enjoy the fruits of our labor!
Mars-Venus is the love-warrior. Capricorn (where the planets are for now) is all about working patiently to create a stable and enduring foundation. Capricorn governs karma coming back to haunt us or give us a boost, depending on if we put in the effort and do the hard thing now. All warriors fight for a cause, and this time, that cause is enduring, stable love.
Mars-Venus can also be magnetic and alluring. You may notice that you crave physical affection more now. It’s sugar and spice and everything nice right now. As long as we put in the work to make it happen!
This is a really great time to reflect on what your long-term relationship goals. Envision what you want your relationships to look like and start making the small but steady changes to get yourself there.
Do you feel strong in your connection with your partner that it can go the distance? What work do you need to do on your own or together to feel secure in a romantic relationship?
Have you been taking the people you love in your life for granted?
What would feel good to do to show those you love how you feel about them?
Conversely, are you doing too much for others and getting little in return? What do you need to feel valued in your relationships again?
Do you need to reaffirm your boundaries or expectations in your relationships?
What do you fight for in your relationships?
What is important to you in this area of your life?
